Contract Engineer
Roles & Responsibilities
- Prepare, review, and administer contracts, subcontracts, and service agreements in compliance with company and client requirements.
- Ensure all contractual documents (scope, terms, conditions, pricing schedules, specifications) are accurate and aligned with project execution plans.
- Support drafting of contract amendments, variations, and change orders.
- Prepare tender documents, RFQs, RFPs, and scope of work packages for subcontractors and vendors.
- Support negotiations to finalize subcontractor agreements and procurement packages.
- Identify potential claims, scope deviations, and change requests from engineering, procurement, and construction teams.
- Prepare and evaluate claims, change orders, and time extension requests (EOT).
- Maintain a change management log to track and document scope modifications.
- Track variations, deliverables, and the fulfilment of contractual requirements.
- Identify contractual risks and develop mitigation strategies.
- Participate in project risk assessments, highlighting commercial and contractual exposures.
- Support cost control teams in tracking budgets, commitments, cash flow, and forecasted expenditures.
- Support commercial reporting including commitments, trends, and contract change impacts.
- Interface with clients, subcontractors, and vendors to resolve contract-related issues.
- Participate in coordination meetings, kick-off sessions, and negotiation discussions.
- Ensure contracts comply with company policies, project requirements, local regulations, and international contracting standards (FIDIC, NEC, API, etc., depending on project).
- Coordinate with legal teams for interpretation of complex contractual clauses or disputes.
- Provide contractual insight during project reviews, progress meetings, and monthly reporting.
