Planning Engineer

Roles & Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain the project’s master schedule using Primavera P6 / MS Project.
• Prepare WBS (Work Breakdown Structure), activity lists, logic links, and sequencing for engineering, procurement, construction, and commissioning.
• Establish baseline schedules and ensure alignment with project execution plans.
• Track progress of engineering deliverables, procurement activities, fabrication, and site construction.
• Update schedules regularly and measure progress using industry-standard methods (weightage, earned value, productivity indices).
• Identify slippages, analyze variances (SV, CV), and propose recovery plans.
• Coordinate with engineering, procurement, construction, subcontractors, and client representatives to gather schedule inputs.
• Participate in project coordination meetings and highlight critical issues impacting schedule.
• Ensure alignment between discipline schedules and overall project timeline.
• Prepare weekly and monthly progress reports, dashboards, S-curves, histograms, and progress measurement systems.
• Forecast schedule impacts, manpower requirements, and future work fronts.
• Present schedule status, delays, and mitigation plan to project management and clients.
• Perform critical path analysis (CPM) and update critical activities regularly.
• Identify and document risks affecting schedule performance.
• Develop resource-loaded and cost-loaded schedules as per project requirements.
• Monitor productivity rates, resource utilization, and ensure optimal allocation.
• Provide schedule impact reports for claims and contractual correspondence.
• Participate in risk workshops and integrate risk response plans into the schedule.
• Maintain planning records, schedules, progress sheets, and project control documents.
• Ensure compliance with client requirements, EPC standards, and project-specific procedures.
• Support project closeout by preparing final reports and as-built schedules.
