Role Overview
The Occupational Therapist Specialist will assess, plan, and implement therapy programs to help patients develop, recover, or improve the skills needed for daily living and working. The role requires a skilled professional with a strong background in rehabilitation, patient-centered care, and the ability to work within a multidisciplinary team.
Key Responsibilities
- Patient Assessment
- Conduct evaluations to identify patients’ functional abilities, limitations, and rehabilitation needs.
- Assess physical, cognitive, sensory, and psychosocial skills to design effective treatment plans.
- Maintain accurate and detailed patient assessments in compliance with medical documentation standards.
- Treatment & Rehabilitation
- Develop and implement individualized occupational therapy programs to improve patient independence in daily activities.
- Provide therapy for patients with physical injuries, developmental delays, neurological conditions, and post-surgical needs.
- Recommend adaptive equipment and train patients/families in its use.
- Monitor patient progress and adjust treatment plans as necessary.
- Patient & Family Education
- Educate patients and caregivers on techniques to manage and improve daily living skills.
- Provide training on home programs, self-care, and adaptive strategies.
- Support patient motivation and engagement in therapy.
- Collaboration & Reporting
- Work closely with physicians, physiotherapists, speech therapists, psychologists, and other healthcare professionals.
- Prepare progress notes, discharge summaries, and reports for medical records.
- Participate in case reviews and multidisciplinary team meetings.
- Professional Standards
- Ensure compliance with Kuwait Ministry of Health (MOH) regulations and Medica Care Center policies.
- Adhere to ethical practices, patient confidentiality, and safety protocols.
- Stay updated on latest rehabilitation approaches, tools, and occupational therapy research.
