Instrument Engineer – Kuwait Drilling Fluids & Oil Services

We are seeking a qualified Instrument Engineer to join our Drilling Fluids (DCF) & PT Laboratory team in Kuwait. The laboratory relies on a range of specialized equipment — including HPHT viscometers, HPHT filter presses, Fann and OFITE viscometers, emulsion stability meters, retorts, mud balances, particle size analyzers, pH meters, mixers, and pressure equipment — to deliver accurate and reliable drilling fluids testing.

This role will take dedicated technical ownership of laboratory instrumentation, ensuring equipment calibration, preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, and documentation are managed consistently. The position will improve equipment availability, reduce downtime, and support the laboratory’s overall testing reliability and readiness.

Key Responsibilities

  • Plan and maintain preventive maintenance and calibration schedules for laboratory equipment.
  • Coordinate and follow up on calibration of critical laboratory instruments.
  • Troubleshoot equipment problems and coordinate timely repairs and servicing.
  • Monitor equipment condition and identify potential problems before they affect laboratory operations.
  • Maintain calibration certificates, service records, equipment history, and related documentation.
  • Coordinate with equipment manufacturers, suppliers, and external service providers when specialist support is required.
  • Support installation, commissioning, and validation of new laboratory equipment.
  • Identify critical spare parts and support effective spare-parts planning.
  • Provide technical recommendations for equipment repair, refurbishment, or replacement based on equipment condition and operational requirements.
  • Support laboratory audits by ensuring equipment records and calibration documentation are complete and current.
  • Monitor equipment availability and follow up on outstanding maintenance or calibration activities.
  • Provide dedicated technical support for instrumentation, allowing laboratory personnel to focus on testing and other technical responsibilities.

Requirements

  • Experience: 5–8 years of relevant experience in instrumentation, calibration, maintenance, or laboratory equipment.
  • Preferred Background: Oil & Gas / Laboratory Instrumentation / Calibration & Maintenance.
  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Instrumentation Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, Mechatronics Engineering, or a related discipline.
  • Previous experience in the Oil & Gas industry or laboratory environment is preferred.
