Application Engineer – HVAC

Job Purpose

The Application Engineer is responsible for providing technical design, system selection, and engineering support across the project lifecycle to ensure accurate solutions, compliant documentation, and timely technical support to sales, projects, and clients. The role ensures technical quality, supports tender success, and maintains engineering standards and documentation.

Key Responsibilities

Engineering Design & Technical Preparation

  • Prepare project-related software outputs (e.g., brand selection software, HAP, or equivalent) and required technical documentation for each project.
  • Perform system selections, load calculations, and equipment sizing on an ongoing basis to support active projects and tenders.
  • Regularly review drawings, layouts, and specifications to ensure technical compliance.
  • Prepare Bills of Quantities (BOQ) for projects to support the quotation process.
  • Periodically update and maintain standardized formats and templates for technical submittals and engineering documentation.

Technical Documentation & Submittals

  • Prepare and revise technical submittals routinely to meet consultant and project requirements.
  • Maintain updated catalogs, certificates, technical data, and submission records to ensure accessibility and compliance.
  • Support consultant approvals and post-sales technical documentation as required throughout project execution.

Project & Sales Technical Support

  • Respond daily to technical emails, RFIs, and clarification requests from internal teams, consultants, and clients.
  • Coordinate regularly with sales, procurement, and site teams to ensure technical alignment and smooth project execution.
  • Provide ongoing technical support for tenders and active projects, including technical justifications and design verification.
  • Support value engineering exercises, alternative product comparisons, and urgent system re-selections whenever project scope or requirements change.
  • Assist site teams with technical troubleshooting when unexpected issues arise.

Reporting & Monitoring

  • Prepare and submit weekly project status reports summarizing ongoing and newly added projects.
  • Continuously monitor project technical progress and maintain updated technical trackers and logs.
  • Periodically review project technical status, including design deviations, approvals, and delays.

Market, Product & Business Support

  • Work closely with the Business Development Manager on competitor analysis and market benchmarking activities conducted periodically.
  • Contribute to product benchmarking, technical evaluations, and vendor or OEM assessments as required.
  • Regularly update technical libraries, selection tools, and engineering reference materials.

Continuous Improvement & Technical Contribution

  • Participate periodically in coordination, performance, and progress review meetings.
  • Review design deviations, non-conformance reports, and corrective actions when required.
  • Support internal technical training and knowledge-sharing initiatives from time to time.
  • Contribute to the ongoing improvement of engineering standards, technical processes, and best practices.
  • Support annual planning activities, including technical input to budgeting and product strategy.
