Design Engineer – Switchgear LV/MV – Industrial Electrical Projects Company

We are seeking a highly skilled Design Engineer with a solid background in Low Voltage (LV) and Medium Voltage (MV) switchgear systems to join our team in Sabhan, Kuwait. The ideal candidate will be responsible for designing and developing innovative switchgear solutions that meet industry standards and client specifications. This position requires a deep understanding of electrical design principles, as well as the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams to ensure successful project execution. The Design Engineer will play a pivotal role in enhancing our product offerings and driving customer satisfaction through high-quality design work.

Responsibilities:

1. Develop detailed design specifications for LV and MV switchgear products, ensuring compliance with relevant industry standards and regulations.
2. Collaborate with project managers and other engineering disciplines to gather requirements and define project scope.
3. Create and review technical drawings and schematics using CAD software, ensuring accuracy and adherence to design protocols.
4. Conduct feasibility studies and risk assessments to identify potential design challenges and propose effective solutions.
5. Perform simulations and analyses to validate design concepts and optimize performance characteristics of switchgear systems.
6. Engage in continuous improvement initiatives, providing feedback and recommendations for design enhancements.
7. Prepare technical documentation, including design reports, manuals, and specifications for manufacturing and installation.
8. Support the testing and commissioning of switchgear products, ensuring they meet operational requirements.
9. Participate in client meetings to present design concepts and gather feedback for iterative improvements.
10. Stay updated on industry trends and advancements in switchgear technology to inform design practices.

Preferred Candidate:

1. Proven experience as a Design Engineer specifically in the switchgear industry, with a strong portfolio of completed projects.
2. In-depth knowledge of electrical engineering principles and switchgear design methodologies.
3. Proficiency in CAD software (e.g., AutoCAD, SolidWorks) for creating and modifying technical drawings.
4. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to think critically and propose innovative solutions.
5. Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, to effectively collaborate with team members and stakeholders.
6. Detail-oriented approach with a commitment to delivering high-quality work within set deadlines.
7. Ability to work independently as well as part of a collaborative team environment.
8. Familiarity with industry standards such as IEC, ANSI, and UL related to switchgear design.
9. A degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field is required; a master’s degree is a plus.
10. Willingness to engage in ongoing professional development and training opportunities.
